Alleghany High School welcomed Congressman Ben Cline on Tuesday, Nov. 25, as he visited government students to discuss how Congress works and how federal decisions impact life in the Alleghany Highlands.

LOW MOOR — Alleghany Highlands Public Schools will ring in the holiday season with a series of festive programs showcasing student talent from late November through December.

COVINGTON — Students in Alleghany High School’s Alleghany Highlands Advancement: Law and Politics program recently had the chance to hear from two accomplished legal and government professionals, gaining firsthand insight into careers in law, government, and public service. 

LOW MOOR — Alleghany Highlands Public Schools is part of the Virginia Tiered Systems of Supports (VTSS), which helps schools across the commonwealth create environments where every student feels known, seen, and cared for.

The “Pink Bus” visited Alleghany Highlands Public Schools on Tuesday, Oct. 28, giving students a hands-on look at careers in cybersecurity.

Alleghany High School junior Abigail Michael is one of the first Alleghany Highlands Public Schools students at the new MG-Tec IT Academy at Mountain Gateway Community College. She’s learning Python, word processing systems, and IT troubleshooting while keeping up with AHS classes online.

LOW MOOR — Alleghany Highlands Public Schools will reopen on Wednesday, October 22, for all students and staff.

Sharon Elementary School has been recognized as one of the region’s top early childhood programs for improvement, earning a place on Virginia’s Quality Birth to Five (VQB5) Improvement Honor Roll. The school ranks among the top 10 percent in the state for gains in classroom interaction quality.
