Alleghany Highlands Public Schools is adjusting its budget for the school year 2026-27 in response to decreased state funding and rising costs. About 30 positions will be reduced through attrition, and some unfilled positions will be eliminated. No layoffs are planned. Central office and administrative changes are part of a long-term plan to operate efficiently, maintain strong leadership, and continue supporting students, staff, and families. We also hope to provide employees with a modest salary increase as resources allow.
