Alleghany High School, Jackson River Technical Center, Covington Middle School, and Clifton Academy will reopen Friday, March 15, after being closed for two days due to a plumbing issue at AHS.
Alleghany Highlands Public Schools maintenance staff was able to clear a blockage in a sewage line Thursday morning, with assistance from the City of Covington’s Department of Public Works. As crews worked to clear the blockage at the high school, CMS, JRTC, and Clifton Academy were also closed due to an overlap in students and transportation. Because so many athletic events and practices were located off-site during the two days of closure, the division was able to continue many extra-curricular activities.
