Alleghany Highlands Public Schools Closed Friday, Feb. 23, Monday, Feb. 26
LOW MOOR — Alleghany Highlands Public Schools will be closed on Friday, Feb. 23, and Monday, Feb. 26.
While Friday will be a non-student day, teachers and staff will receive training to help AHPS meet requirements in several areas, including homelessness, English Language Learners, and students with disabilities. The calendar change was approved by the school board earlier this winter.
Monday, Feb. 26, was already designated as a parent/teacher conference day in elementary schools. The day is designated for professional development and training for teachers at Covington Middle School, Alleghany High School, Jackson River Technical Center, and Clifton Academy. In the elementary schools, parent/teacher conferences will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Students will return to school on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
