Posted on 03/14/2023

LOW MOOR — The Alleghany Highlands Public Schools Division will hold summer remediation (summer school) for students in grades K-12 at Mountain View Elementary School June 5-29, 2023.

This year, due to school consolidation needs, remedial school will be open to students who are referred by school administrators. Students will be selected with input from appropriate staff, including teachers and school counselors. This summer, AHPS will be preparing for the full merger of schools in the fall.

Remedial school classes will be held on Monday through Thursday June 5-29, from 8 a.m. to noon. There will be no school on June 19, in recognition of the Juneteenth holiday.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all students at no charge. Transportation routes will be posted publicly upon their completion.

Parents with questions about their child’s eligibility for summer school should contact their child’s school.

Alleghany Highlands Public Schools serves approximately 2,700 students. The school division was established on July 1, 2022, when Alleghany County Public Schools, Covington City Public Schools, and Jackson River Technical Center merged. School division news and events are regularly posted on Facebook at AHPublicSchools. The division website is www.ahps.k12.va.us.
